Terra Andina Carmenere 2001

Alright, the disclaimer is that I don’t really know anything about wine, tannins, bouquet or what not. I like to drink wine and I keep forgetting what I buy and if I liked it or not.
So I went to the wine store tonight. We had a ton of leftover chilli in the freezer so that was going to be dinner. I don’t normally go in and ask “What wine goes with *blah*” but I thought it would be fun to ask which wine went with chilli. After some mistified looks, this is what was recommended. Its really good. The guy said there was a hint of green pepper, which, when drunk, seems about right. Its pretty spicy right of the bat. There’s no bad aftertaste. The chilli continues to defrost so I’ll know soon if it does, in fact, pair well with chilli. I also had this wine
with the same chilli last night and it was very good. I would have it again with lasagna, as the description suggests.
Edit: The chilli is finally hot and the wine holds up well. This batch of chilli was pretty spicy/tangy and the Carmenere still tastes like wine and not like *blech* like some wines do when you have food with them.
